Works Agency is advising motorists that non operational traffic signals in the Kingston Metropolitan Region and at locations in other parishes where these signals are mal-functioning, are to be treated as all-way stops, while the Agency undertakes repairs.

Senior Communications Officer at the National Works Agency, Colin Morrison is advising motorists, to stop at the stop bars, look left, right and ahead, and then proceed when it is safe to do so, until normalcy returns to the signals at the various locations.

Mr. Morrison says there are 47 affected intersections located in Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Manchester, St. James, Clarendon and St. Elizabeth. There is no electrical supply at 30 of these intersections, 18 of which are located in Kingston & St. Andrew, 3 in Manchester, 8 in St. Catherine and 2 in St. Elizabeth, while there was damage to cabinets, cable and signal heads at the other locations.

He says that the NWA will re-activate signals now without power as soon as the Jamaica Public Service Company restores the supply of electricity to the affected locations. The NWA continues to carry out repairs to those damaged during the hurricane.

Mr. Morrison is advising motorists to exercise caution when using these intersections.
