NWA Urges Caution along the Pamphret Main Road in St. Thomas

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists and pedestrians to proceed with extreme caution along the section of Pamphret main road, St. Thomas, in the vicinity of Morant Villas on the outskirts of the town, where the seawall and a section of the roadway has collapsed.

Heavy rainfall in the area during the last twenty four hours has caused the partial collapse of the seawall and roadway, reducing approximately fifty metres of the thoroughfare to single lane usage.

The NWA has dispatched a contractor and other personnel to the site to put in place safety measures and signage to warn pedestrians and motorists of the state of the roadway. Motorists who wish to avoid the possibility of delays may use the alternative routes via Queen Street or Hope Road.

In the meantime the NWA is advising motorists and pedestrians to obey all posted warning and directional signs and the instructions of flag persons.
