The National Works Agency (NWA) is now undertaking a multi-million dollar project aimed at restoring full access to the German Town roadway in Southern Trelawny. This roadway was severely undermined following successive storm events, forcing many motorists to use alternative routes.

The German Town roadway is used by persons travelling from Ullster Spring to Stettin via Freeman’s Hall. The corridor is also used as an alternative route whenever neighbouring roadways such as Ullster Spring and Albert Town are blocked.

According to Community Relations Officer at the NWA Western Region, Janel Ricketts, just under $4 million is being spent to restore the roadway. Ms. Ricketts says that the project involves the construction of a retaining wall, the improvement in drainage infrastructure, the backfilling and asphalting of the affected section of the roadway.

The project is being executed under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
