NWA's Multi-million Dollar Bridge Replacement Projects on Schedule

The National Works Agency (NWA) is reporting that its multi-million dollar programme to replace six bridges across the island is on schedule. Two hundred and forty seven million dollars is being spent to construct these structures in five parishes.

Of the six bridges, the Dover Castle Bridge located in St. Catherine was completed at the end of March at a cost of $23.3 million while the Box Culvert, constructed at Crooked River in Clarendon was also completed in March at a cost of $39.1 million.

The other four bridges are at various stages of completion. The Box Culvert being constructed at Robins Bay in St. Mary is 10% complete. The expected completion date is July at a cost of $33.9 million.

In Craig Mill, western Portland, the new Modular 200 Bridge being constructed is on schedule for completion at the end of June at a cost of $26.6 million, while river training works and the Compact Modular 200 bridge being constructed at Kintyre in St. Andrew is 25% complete. The expected completion date is June at a cost of $100 million.

The Southwood Bridge in Clarendon is 30% complete. The NWA is spending $24.3 million to construct this new bridge which is expected to be completed by the end of July.
