Rehabilitation of the Unity to Tom's River main road in West Rural St. Andrew Underway

The National Works Agency (NWA) began a multi-million dollar Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme, project to rehabilitate the Unity to Tom’s River main road located in west rural St. Andrew.

Work on this project began in April 2011 and is expected to be completed within twelve months. Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says that just under seven kilometers of roadway is being repaired.

Mr. Shaw says that the repairs to the roadway include bushing , cleaning of drains, cutting of over hang, construction of “U” and “V” drains and culverts, repairs to the road surface and paving with Double Surface Dress.

The sub-contractor responsible for this project is ALCAR Construction and Haulage Company Limited. This project is expected to cost just under $204 million.
