Road Closure Notice for the Green Pond St. James

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective 8:00 am on Saturday October 5, 2013, a section of the Green Pond roadway, in the vicinity of Birch Hill St. James will be closed to vehicular traffic. This roadway will remained closed until Sunday October 6, 2013 at 5:00 pm.

Community Relations Officer at the NWA, Janel Ricketts, say that the roadway is being closed to facilitate the construction of a concrete cross drain across a section of this critical stretch of roadway.

Ms. Ricketts says that during the period of closure road users, especially those travelling to or from the communities of Cormwall Courts and sections of Porto Bello are being advised to use the alternative route through Farm Heights.

The Green Pond roadway is one of several roadways in St. James being targeted for rehabilitation under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP). The project which is being completed at a cost of $147 million is now in the final stages of completion.
