Road Rehabilitation Projects started in St. Elizabeth

The National Works Agency (NWA) has commenced the rehabilitation of a number of parochial roads in St. Elizabeth, valued at over $196 million. The projects are being executed under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP) in the parish of St Elizabeth. Under the JDIP, all categories of roads are being rehabilitated by the NWA.

Community Relations Officer of the NWA’s Central Region, Howard Hendriks says that the parochial roads in St. Elizabeth that are now being rehabilitated include that from Cataboo to Punchies, Smoothland to Mount Plymouth, Belleview to Queensbury, Seaview to Queensbury, Craigie to Baileys Ground, Carisbrook to Dry Harbour, Arlington to Ghetto, Crane Road to Parrottee, Barbary Hall to Cherry Gardens and Newell to Honslow.

The works to be done on these corridors include the construction of drains, removal and replacement of the old surface and the construction of retaining walls. The roads will be completed with the placement of Asphaltic Concrete and Double Surface Dressing and will be completed within a year.
