The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that the St. Ann’s Bay to Claremont main road in St. Ann is blocked in the vicinity of Higgins Town, at area called Content.

The blockage is the result of a large tree which fell across the roadway this morning due to heavy rainfall in the area during the past twenty four hours.

The Agency has dispatched heavy equipment and personnel to the location in order to effect clearance and is working to have the roadway cleared to at least single lane use by 8 o’clock this evening.

The NWA is advising motorists travelling from St. Ann’s Bay towards Montague to use the alternate route through Chalky Hill. The reverse obtains for motorists travelling from Montague and heading towards St. Ann’s Bay.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to proceed with care along this roadway and obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning and directional signs while work to clear the roadway is in progress.
