Temporary Closure of the Highgate to Windsor Castle Main Road in St. Mary

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that a section of the Highgate to Windsor Castle main road, in St. Mary, will be temporarily closed on Sunday, March 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm. The road will be closed in the community of Palmetto Grove.

This temporary closure is to facilitate the replacement of a culvert across the roadway. These works became necessary as the present culvert is inadequate to carry storm water and leads to flooding whenever it rains. The works form part of an island-wide $50 million Drainage Improvement Programme which is being financed by the Road Maintenance Fund (RMF).
The alternative route for motorists travelling towards Highgate from Windsor Castle is via Guys Hill to Pear Tree Grove, through Woodside to Flint River then to Richmond and Highgate. The opposite obtains for persons travelling from Highgate to Windsor Castle.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution, obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning and directional signs while work is in progress.
