Temporary Closure of May pen Rail Bridge, Clarendon for Sand Blasting and Painting

Date Published:
22 Jun 2012

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists and pedestrians that the May Pen Rail Bridge will be closed for a period of five (5) weeks, effective Monday, June 25, 2012. The period of closure will be between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day.

This temporary closure is to facilitate the second phase of repair works that the NWA has been executing under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP). This phase involves sand blasting and painting of steel members (truss).

The works will be carried out at nights to reduce the level of inconvenience to the commuting public.

Motorists travelling from the direction of Mineral’s Heights, Clarendon Park or Palmer’s Cross towards the town centre during the periods of closure should use the alternative route via the Bustamante Highway, Glenmuir Road, Anderson Drive then onto Manchester or Sharpe Avenues. The reverse obtains for motorists travelling from the town centre in the direction of Mineral’s Heights, Clarendon Park or Palmer’s Cross.
