The “No Right Turn” sign erected by the National Works Agency (NWA) at the intersection of Kingsway Avenue and Hope Road in St. Andrew is to remain and the law enforced according to the Road Traffic Act. This position has been agreed to by the Police Traffic Department, headed by Senior Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis.

Minister of Transport, Works and Housing Dr. Omar Davies on Wednesday met with the police and technical officers of the NWA where the parties agreed to work together to enforce the Regulations.

Dr. Davies says that arising from the meeting, the public is being informed that, outside of the specified hours, right turns will be allowed at the intersection, ONLY when the police are present and direct motorists in this regard. Motorists who therefore make this turn in the absence of a police directive will be breaking the law and are liable for prosecution.

The Transport Minister said that the Ministry, through the NWA, has been looking at the various congestion points around Kingston and that some changes will shortly be implemented in collaboration with the police.

Among the areas that Dr. Davies has given instructions to be examined are the intersections at Waterloo Road and Hope Road and South Avenue and Constant Spring Road.
